The Vitalize Peel from SkinMedica is a unique blend of acids and other cosmeceutical ingredients which may help you achieve dramatic improvement in texture and tone, lessening of superficial lines and a healthier, more youthful look and feel with minimal ‘down time’. This renewal process has been clinically proven to help pigmentation problems (such as age spots) fade and stimulate collagen production in the cells underneath. It is gentle enough to use every 3 weeks for maximum benefits and a glowing, healthy start to your Skincare regimen.

Resulting from as little as one peel, you will notice a renewed appearance, including:

The Vitalize Peel incorporates Retinoic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acids with Resorcinol and other active cosmeceutical ingredients to create one of the safest, strongest half-hour chemical peels available. A mild to moderate flaking occurs 2 to 3 days after the Vitalize Peel is performed and can be controlled with moisturizers. Many patients receive this procedure during their lunch hour. The Vitalize Peel is performed by a licensed medicalaestheticiansn under physician supervision and can be repeated at three weeks for maximum benefits. It is recommended as a great way to jump-start your healthy skincare routine.

PRE-Treatment Instructions

For best results, it is advised to avoid sun exposure and the following products & procedures at least 1 week prior your treatment:

  • Electrolysis
  • Waxing
  • Depilatory creams
  • Laser hair removal
  • Any exfoliating products
  • Amy products that may be drying or irritating, including products containing salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, including glycolic acids and products containing Vitamin A and retinol
  • Shaving of the area to be treated

POST-Treatment Instructions

  • You may be more sensitive to sun exposure. Take extra precautions by using sun block with SPF 20 or higher daily. We recommend limiting sun exposure for at least one week after your peel.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 2 to 3 days, the perspiration caused may irritate the skin.
  • When washing your face do not scrub. Use gentle cleanser.
  • Avoid “helping” the skin to peel. You can control the peeling with a light moisturizer.
  • Do not have any other facial treatment for at least one week after your peel. You may resume the regular use of Retinols, Alpha-hydroxy (AHA) products, Vitamin C or bleaching creams ONLY after peeling process is complete.

SUNBURN ALERT: This procedure utilizes ingredients which may increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. We recommend using a sunscreen of at least SPF 20 and limiting sun exposure while using chemical peels and for at least one week afterwards.

The skin may look and feel like a mild windburn for the next 2 or 3 days prior to peeling. After 48 hours a slight flaking may occur, which can easily be controlled with moisturizers. Avoid heavy makeup application because many ingredients in foundations are greasy or fragranced and can be irritating. We suggest using mineral make up with natural sunscreen’s such as Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide. Let the skin shed at its own rate to avoid scarring or rashes, avoid pulling or peeling shedding skin. After one week the skin should look clearer and smoother and the use of normal skin care products can resume.
